GWAS for Stripe Rust Resistance in Wild Emmer Wheat (Triticum dicoccoides) Population: Obstacles and Solutions

چکیده

Stripe rust is a devastating disease in wheat that causes substantial yield loss around the world. The most effective strategy for mitigating to develop resistant cultivars. wild relatives of are good sources resistance fungal pathogens. Here, we used genome-wide association study (GWAS) identify loci associated with stripe (causal agent: Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici) emmer (Triticum dicoccoides) at seedling stage, greenhouse, and adult plant field. We found two major contributing our panel were previously cloned seedling-stage gene, Yr15, adult-plant-stage Yr36. Nevertheless, detected 12 additional minor QTLs additionally contribute mapped locus on chromosome 3AS tentatively harbors novel gene. genotype phenotype data generated panel, together SNPs rust, provide valuable resource disease-resistance breeding durum bread wheat.

Linkage Relationships in Wild Emmer Wheat, TRITICUM DICOCCOIDES.

The linkage relationships in wild emmer wheat, Triticum dicoccoides , between nine enzymatic loci (Mdh-1, Ipo, beta-Glu, Pept-1, Pept-3, Est-5, Est-1, 6Pgdh-2 and Hk) and a coleoptile pigment locus (Rc) were investigated. Chromosome locations of genes were inferred from analysis of ditelocentric lines of Triticum aestivum, cultivar Chinese Spring. The loci Mdh-B1 and Hk are linked (lambda = 0.1...

Wild emmer wheat, Triticum dicoccoides, occupies a pivotal position in wheat domestication process

Domestication of plants and animals is the major factor underlying human civilization. Cultivated wheats refer mainly to two types: the hexaploid bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) accounting for about 95% of world wheat production, and the tetraploid durum wheat (T. durum) accounting for the other 5%. T. aestivum derived from a cross between domesticated emmer T. dicoccum and the goat grass Aegil...

Solar Radiation-Associated Adaptive SNP Genetic Differentiation in Wild Emmer Wheat, Triticum dicoccoides

Whole-genome scans with large number of genetic markers provide the opportunity to investigate local adaptation in natural populations and identify candidate genes under positive selection. In the present study, adaptation genetic differentiation associated with solar radiation was investigated using 695 polymorphic SNP markers in wild emmer wheat originated in a micro-site at Yehudiyya, Israel...

Adaptive evolution of benzoxazinoids in wild emmer wheat, Triticum dicoccoides, at "Evolution Canyon", Mount Carmel, Israel

BACKGROUND "Evolution Canyon" (ECI) at Lower Nahal Oren, Mount Carmel, Israel, is an optimal natural microscale model for unraveling evolution-in-action, highlighting the evolutionary processes of biodiversity evolution, adaptation, and incipient sympatric speciation. A major model organism in ECI is the tetraploid wild emmer wheat, Triticum dicoccoides (TD), the progenitor of cultivated emmer ...

Genome-Wide Identification and Characterization of Salinity Stress-Responsive miRNAs in Wild Emmer Wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccoides)

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of endogenous small noncoding RNAs which regulate diverse molecular and biochemical processes at a post-transcriptional level in plants. As the ancestor of domesticated wheat, wild emmer wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccoides) has great genetic potential for wheat improvement. However, little is known about miRNAs and their functions on salinity stress in wild ...
